Some Downtime

Update: The upgrade has been completed to a point where the site can be open again. There may be a few funny numbers here and there since the scale of ‘played’ time changed from fractional hours to whole seconds (ie. 1.1 hours becomes 3960 seconds or so) messing with a few calculations, but I’ll find them and fix them over the next few days if they’re there.

I’ve been working on changes to the update process to move it from HTML scraping to accessing the available XML data from Steam, which should make it faster and give it more accurate play time numbers. This requires simultaneous changes to the code in the background updater, the front-end presentation and some of the data structures.

To keep it simple, I’ll pull the site down completely sometime this week to make the transition. Probably a weekday afternoon (Sydney time) later in the week.

    Hi

is it possible to disable auto updates for my profile? I would rather play without worrying about stats :) I can find the auto update option but I can’t find how to disable it?

  2. Tyris Says:

in particular, the pph stats on the day/week(s)/month stats (per user stats) is showing as 0.02/3 etc

@Sumo: Sure, if you just leave the 4fite Steam group, my site will detect that when it next checks your profile and remove your member flag (resulting in no more automatic updates). If you aren’t in the Steam group and your profile is being updated still, please send me your Steam ID (URL or number) and I’ll look into it.

@Tyris: Yeah, I’ve noticed this too, thanks though. It’s just a display problem, and the actual data (mostly) is fine. I should be able to fix it today.

Thanks Raw, I will leave the group and see what happens.

    Cheers

    Hi there.

How can one access XML statistics data from steam?

    Thanks!

  6. raw Says:

@algiecas - sorry for the delay

I was told about the XML feed directly by Valve so, in hindsight, even though I posted about it, I’m unsure how public it is supposed to be and don’t want to inadvertently blow the lid on it :(

I’m sure if you contact Valve and ask, they will let you know. I certainly can’t seem to find open information about it through google, on the development community site or on their forums.
